When should the Pre-BASEC research project form be used and when it shoudn't?
If the project has a BASEC ID number with the format PB_YYYY-xxxxx, it means that there is a Pre-BASEC form in BASEC for that project.
Submission of a substantial amendment to a project that has a Pre-BASEC form requires a new registration of the project in BASEC through the form «Research project application form», or through the form «Research project application form for medical devices / in vitro diagnostic medical devices», as applicable.
However, if the submission concerns the notification of the study end or its early termination, then such notification is done through the Pre-BASEC form. See this help-article for details.
Generally, the submission of administrative changes to the competent ethics committee does not require a new registration through either the «Research project application form», or through the form «Research project application form for medical devices / in vitro diagnostic medical devices». However, in particular cases the ethics committee can nonetheless ask the applicant to register the project through one of the main forms indicated above. Contact the competent ethics committee in case of doubts.
See this help-article on how to submit amendments, administrative changes, and notify the end of study if the project is not in BASEC yet.
